Working for the police is a great job and one that the majority of officers enjoy. It can be an exciting experience when you are either chasing the criminal or investigating a crime scene.

With all these experiences, the one thing you need to rely on is your feet to get you to where you need to be!   So it makes sense that police officers require the best police boots to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Choosing the right Boots can be quite daunting, but actually it’s fairly simple when you break it all down. It is ultimately personal choice as to which boots will be the best as everyone’s feet are unique and different.

What are you looking for in Police Boots?

  • Support for your Boots

Having the correct support is vital in boots to make sure you don’t pick up any injuries. Most styles of boots have high ankle support which is what you need. During the working day you could be standing in someone’s living room one minute then running through marshy fields the next.

So having that high ankle support with some decent padding on either side is essential. Make sure you also pay attention to how the boots lace up or zip up. You really want the boots to lace all the way to the top, allowing you to pull the support in firm into your leg.  This provides extra support.

  • Waterproof Boots

Everyone knows what the weather in the UK is like. It rains more than it shines! Therefore another vital component of the police boots is the ability to withstand the wet weather.  You don’t want to be doing a shift in wet boots with wet feet because your moral will stink like a stone!

It is important when choosing  your best boots that you get a pair which are waterproof, but also breathable. Otherwise you will end up with sweaty stinky feet, which is just as bad as getting them wet.

There are loads of really good boots out there which are made with waterproof material, one type of material which is gor-tex.  Lots of boots have the gore-tex built into the boots allowing your feet to stay dry even in the worst of the UK weather.

You will also find that quality brands, like Altberg, don’t provide a gor-tex material. However due to the way the boots are made, top quality leather and water resistant material, these are also idea for policing. You must bear in mind that these boots will always be on the more expensive side.

  • Comfortable Wearing Boots

The worst possible scenario you could imagine is purchasing a pair of boots that either don’t fit correctly or rub your feet. Police officers spend lots of time on their feet and therefore boots need to be comfortable.

This usually comes down to experience in purchasing different styles and designs to find our which ones fit you the best.

Just remember what you pay for in boots, is most likely what you’ll get. i.e. If you choose to buy a cheaper style of boot, then these are more likely to be less comfortable.

This doesn’t mean you need to spend hundreds of pounds on boots, it just means be careful in what you purchase.

For example, Under Armour have a style of boot which feels like a running trainer but it’s in the form of police boot and these are very reasonable priced, approximately £80.

Then you more expensive Gore-Tex Lowa boots which are more hard wearing and firmer that cost over £150.

Just remember you’ll be wearing these boots for hours and you want to stay as comfortable as possible.

CONCLUSION

If you are looking for the best police boots for 2020 then there are plenty of places to start looking and whatever style or material you go for, you want them to last.

Just remember to after the boots, clean them, maintain them and the laces, and they will then look after your feet and provide you with months, hopefully years of hassle free feet!
