Urgent Police appeal for help in search for missing Exeter lady

Update 29 July 2pm: Police have released two more photographs of Alma Royle, which were taken in the local Co-op store on Dunsford Road on the day she went missing (Friday 26 July).

29 July 7.20am: Alma Royle, last seen in Heron Way, St Thomas, is still missing and Police are increasingly concerned for her safety. They have enlisted the help of mountain rescue teams to help find her, but are also asking the public to keep their eyes open.

Update 5.40pm (28 July): Police have released an updated description of the missing 83-year-old Exeter lady, Alma Royle. On Friday 26 July, Alma was seen wearing a couple of slightly different outfits. When she went missing she was wearing either a red long-sleeved top, black knee-length skirt and black shoes, or a long green duffle coat, black knee-length skirt and brown boots.

She is described as around 5ft 5ins, grey hair, proportionate build, active and sprightly. She does not have a stoop as mentioned in the previous report.

She was seen visiting the nearby Co-op store at different times on Friday.

Police believe she was last seen at 3pm in Heron Way, St Thomas, looking dazed and confused. She may have headed towards Cowick Street or the St Thomas area of Exeter.

3.20pm (28 July): It has now transpired that the CCTV image that the Police originally thought to be of Alma Royle entering the Co-op, was in fact of another woman.

Earlier today (28 July): Police are extremely concerned for the welfare of an 83-year-old lady called Alma Royle who has been reported missing from the St Thomas area of Exeter.

She was last seen on Friday 26th July leaving the Co-op on Dunsford Road at approximately 4.30pm.

Alma is a white female, approximately 5’5” tall with a slight stoop, proportionate build and has white/grey hair. She was wearing a green blouse and a long dark tartan skirt with dark tights and black shoes. She was carrying a dark bag which contained a loaf of bread, a newspaper and a tub of hummus.

The Police have released recent photograph of Alma, which has been supplied by a relative.
