A torchlit procession, ethereal harmonies, and festive magic await as the Mediaeval Baebes bring their enchanting Twelfth Moon concert to Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 6th December. Renowned for their spellbinding blend of early music, poetry, and theatre, the Baebes promise an unforgettable evening of song, storytelling, and seasonal celebration.

The night begins with a procession through Exeter’s streets, setting the tone for the atmospheric concert inside the cathedral’s historic walls. With soaring vocal harmonies, evocative costumes, and an array of exotic historical instruments, the all-female ensemble will weave tales of midwinter myths, wonder, and joy.

The concert will feature several tracks from their forthcoming album The Spinning Wheel, performed live for the first time. A double A-side single, December, inspired by the torchlit ritual and composed by group founder Katharine Blake, will be released in late November to preview the seasonal soundscape.

Now in their 30th anniversary year, the Mediaeval Baebes have become one of Europe’s most successful female-led folk and early music groups. Their credits include 11 studio albums, an Ivor Novello Award, Emmy nominations, and collaborations with composer Martin Phipps on ITV’s Victoria, as well as chart success with Orbital’s Ringa Ringa and viral sea-shanty stars The Wellermen.

The Spinning Wheel, set for release in February 2026, celebrates the twelve months of the year through richly layered soundscapes that capture nature’s beauty and emotional cycles.

Tickets for the Exeter Cathedral concert are £32.50 for adults and £15.00 for under-16s, available via mediaevalbaebes.com.

Prepare to be transported—join the procession, embrace the music, and be swept into a world of festive folklore and mediaeval mystery.
