Teignbridge councillors, staff, dignitaries, service personnel (including cadets and veterans) and pupils from Chudleigh Primary School marked Armed Forces Day with a flag raising ceremony at the council’s Forde House headquarters.

Teignbridge Chairman Cllr Richard Keeling led the ceremony today at 10am, paying tribute to those who currently serve and have served in the past.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets. It takes place on the last Saturday each June and this year will be marked on Saturday 29 June.

From today, celebrations start across the country when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on civic buildings and famous landmarks. The flag will be flown throughout the week leading up to Armed Forces Day.

Teignbridge District Council's Chairman Cllr Richard Keeling said:  “I was delighted to welcome guests and dignitaries to Forde House today. Teignbridge is very proud to fly the Armed Forces flag as a sign of our gratitude to members of the armed forces, both past and present. As an ex-serviceman myself, I know how valued the support from Armed Forces Day can be for those who serve and their families who all bear so much on our behalf.”
