On Friday 12th April Stagecoach South West held an ‘Egg-stravaganza’ event in Torbay to launch their egg-citing Easter competition and celebrate the return of the ‘Golden Hop’ service this Easter.

This year, the public have the chance to take part in the ultimate Easter egg hunt onboard the bus. Using one of their special Easter egg hunt check list, passengers are invited to spot the different coloured eggs, hidden on board our Stagecoach buses, and complete their check lists by filling in each egg’s unique code for a chance to win a giant Easter prize. The Easter egg hunt checklists are available at the Stagecoach South West travel shop, at Paignton bus station.

The 6 open-topped, double-decker buses, have distinctive liveries featuring animal characters Chirpy the Cricket, Porter the Penguin, Cango the Kangaroo, Freddie the Frog, Swash Buckle the Pirate Parrot and Gary the Rabbit.

The family of buses hit the road once again on 13th April, in time for the Easter holidays, and visitors can enjoy a unique sightseeing experience by hopping on and off as often as they like to visit popular destinations and attractions around Torbay.

The fleet runs up to every 20 mins, 7 days a week connecting Babbacombe & St Marychurch, Torquay, Paignton and Paignton Zoo and serves many popular hotels and tourist attractions along the English Riviera including Babbacombe’s Theatre, Cliff Railway and Model Village. Customers can also disembark for Torbay Leisure Centre, Splashdown Quaywest and Goodrington, making it perfect for families and holidaymakers who are visiting the coastal area during the Easter holidays.

To celebrate the return of the Hopper buses, and the launch of their onboard Egg Hunt competition, Stagecoach South West held an Easter-themed launch event in Torquay town centre, at the Esplanade, on Friday 12th April from 10am - 3pm.

The event featured a giant wire buzzer game, for people to take part in as well as and lots of chocolate mini egg giveaways!

One of the Hop 122 buses was parked up for the launch and Stagecoach mascot, Gary the Rabbit, was on site to greet visitors and give them more information on the service. Stagecoach South West staff were also there on the day to hand out the Easter egg hunt check list and greet customers who had any questions about routes and timetables.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director, Bob Dennison, says: “It’s great to see the Golden Hop buses out on the road again. They are always extremely popular with Torbay residents and tourists, enabling them to easily explore and enjoy the Bay and its many attractions.”
