If you want the challenge of a lifetime and the buzz of taking on one of the top 'authentic' military training courses in the UK then the Royal Marines Endurance Course is for you. Whether it be the thrill of the 'Fun' 4k or the slightly more testing 'Marine' 10k or ulitmately the 17k 'Endurance' event (only held each June) then be sure to find something for everyone at these events.

These unique opportunities are given to civilians only at these events and by kind permission of the Commandant of the Commando Training Centre near Exmouth Devon. The courses are still used today by these world famous troops before they qualify for there Green Beret. The event is open to anyone over the age of 16 with first runners away at 0900 and then at 2 minute intervals for the remainder of the event.

The Commando Challenge series of events is open to anyone who wants a personal challenge whilst at the same time helping to raise funds for our injured and wounded Royal Marines.

You will face a mixture of road, track and off-road running along with all the famous obstacles of the Endurance Course, from the 'Sheep Dip' to 'Peter's Pool' and from the 'Crocodile Pit' to pitch black tunnels.

Historically all manner of occupations have “stepped up to the mark” to take on this test of a lifetime from bankers to night club owners and from housewives to vets – and have travelled from over 35 counties across England as well as from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Europe and beyond.

The events are staged on behalf of Royal Marine Charities and the Devon Air Ambulance and guarantee all participants the chance to 'get down and dirty' and to Meet the Marines who will be at the event to ensure you have a great time.

Alan Hardy, Organiser of the event and himself a former Royal Marine for 23 years, said, “All of us should do what we can to support our Troops – and this event is particularly close to my own heart as a ‘third generation ‘Royal Marine’ in my family. If you really do want to make a difference then go to the Commando Challenge website now and download your entry form – or enter on-line. It really is an opportunity to have a crack at taking on one of the famous Royal Marines military training tests which all recruits have to pass to achieve their Green Beret.”

Dates open to you in 2013 are 15th June for the 17k or 5th and 6th October for the 4k and 10k Challenges.

And don't forget, we offer the very best facilities at the event including hot showers and full changing facilities as well as catering and licenced bar - oh, and don't forget those Royal Marines out on the course who are there to ensure you “enjoy” the experience.
