Royal Marines cadet awarded First Sea Lord cadet 2018

Cadet Corporal William Darnbrough of Royal Marine Cadets, Lympstone (RMVCC) has beaten 20,000 cadets around the country to be one of only 11 appointed as First Sea Lord cadet for 2018!

Having been invested by the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Philip Jones KCB ADC aboard the historic HMS Nelson, he will spend the next 12 months carrying out official engagements.

First Sea Lord cadets play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Corps. It's a chance to have their voices heard, and to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

This is a huge honour for William, his family, RMVCC and St Peters C of E Aided School in Exeter where he is a Year 9 pupil.

This follows on from Lympstone’s fifth successive win in the annual Cautley Cup competition and successfully retaining the prestigious Portsmouth Cup to find the best Royal Marines cadet unit in the country.

RMVCC is open to boys and girls aged eight-and-half to 16 and the next induction is on 19th February. Please visit Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps Lympstone on Facebook.
