Police investigate rape in Tiverton

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following allegations of a rape in Tiverton.

The incident took place in Collipriest Road near the junction with Little Silver at around 2.30am on Sunday 22 April.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 5’ 6” tall with a stocky build.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesperson said: “It is believed that the offender followed the victim from Tiverton town centre.

“We believe that three people walked past the victim prior to the attack on the way out of Tiverton town centre and got into a car nearby.

“We are keen to speak to these people as they may hold information vital to the investigation.”

The victim, a local woman, is currently being supported by specialist officers. This is an isolated incident and is being investigated by Detectives in Exeter and mid Devon.
