A giant skeleton steel frame is rapidly rising near Exmouth Quay as The Point waterside apartments take shape. Over the next six weeks, the frame currently at the first floor, will reach its full height of 20 metres.

The Point is being developed by Eagle One Homes and will deliver fourteen high quality waterside apartments by the end of the year.

The steel frame sits on a solid concrete foundation on top of piles up to 21 metres deep.  In all over 60 tonnes of European manufactured steel will be used and up to 60% of the steel is recycled making it a very sustainable option.

It will be built using a single crane, which lifts the steel frame panels into place like a giant Meccano set. The huge crane can lift up to 1000kg lengths of steel over distances of up to 40 metres.

The advantage of this approach is that it allows a fast installation of the frame. Once it is finished at the end of July the windows and roof can be added. This is then followed by the insulated render system, which is when the beautiful curve of The Point apartments will appear.

The apartment complex will consist of a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes arranged over four storeys. The building will have two stunning penthouses with expansive glass walls at the top whilst the ground floor will feature three retail units.  The Point will provide panoramic views over the sea, River Exe estuary and Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve.

All the apartments will have underfloor heating, high performance windows and superior acoustic properties. People who buy off plan also have the chance to customise elements including paint colours and tiling options as well as and kitchen and bathroom fittings.

Anyone wanting to register an interest in the buying one of the properties at The Point should contact the developers’ agent Bradleys on 01395 222300 or email exmouth@beagroup.co.uk.
