Oil tanker collision leaves woman injured

A serious collision between an oil tanker and a car closed the A35 near Honiton for several hours today.

Two fire appliances from Honiton, one appliance from Colyton, the Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor and the water carrier from Danes Castle were sent to a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and an oil tanker near Home Farm Hotel in Wilmington, near Honiton shortly after 11am.

On arrival crews confirmed that the collision involved a car and a road tanker and that one female person was trapped in the car.

The female was released by fire crews using hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools.  She was then taken to hospital by air ambulance.

The road was reopened at 1.30pm.
