
Night Fighters of Exeter - The Story of 307 Squadron
307 Squadron Project invites you to Exeter’s Guildhall for the special event Night Fighters of Exeter - The Story of 307 Squadron.
It will take place between Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November 2025 to remember the Polish 307 Squadron.
This night-fighter squadron was part of the RAF, who defended the South West of England during WW2. It prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.
The event includes:
The story of the Polish 307 Squadron.
The History of RAF Exeter where 307 Squadron were based from 1941-1943.
At 10am on Saturday 15th November, ‘307 Squadron Day’, the Polish flag will be raised over the Guildhall by the Lord Mayor of Exeter in memory of the squadron.
At noon on Saturday 15th November a short service of remembrance followed by wreath laying at the 307 Squadron Memorial will take place in the St James Chapel of Exeter Cathedral.
The St James Chapel has recently been refurbished and now has multi-media and interpretation boards regarding Exeter and the cathedral during WW2 and mention of the Polish 307 Squadron defending the city.
Please note that space is limited due to the size of the chapel however the service may be able to be viewed and heard from outside the chapel.
The exhibition in both English and Polish, will take place at the Exeter Guildhall, from:
Friday 14th November 10am-4pm.
Saturday 15th November 10am-4pm.
‘Night Fighters - The Story of 307 Squadron’ has been organised by 307 Squadron Project, with support from Exeter City Council.
307 Squadron Project is a British-Polish registered charity established to promote the role and carry out further research on the squadron that were known as the ‘Lwów Eagle Owls’.
