New Police Inspector is appointed for Exeter

Andrew Webber has been appointed as the Inspector to lead the neighbourhood policing teams in Exeter. He brings with him considerable operational, partnership and strategic experience, together with a close knowledge of the area.

Andrew’s family has been in the city since the 1940s. His grandfather ran the Victoria Inn between 1936-1972, including night of the ‘Exeter blitz’ when the top storey of the pub was destroyed by incendiaries.

His uncle was the officer in charge of Exeter police throughout the war years and his family ran Wonford post office from the 1950’s until it’s relocation a few years ago.

Andrew said “I am very pleased to take up this new position. Living locally, having been a governor with Stoke Hill First School and an elected governor with the R D and E Hospital Foundation Trust, I am firmly grounded in the local community and I strive to deliver the policing that Exeter needs”.

One of his priorities is to help start the debate for more community engagement under the terms of the Localism Act 2011. This relates to how licensing hours and the night time economy should be delivered by the Local Authority.
