On Tuesday 5 June Honiton Gymnastics Club is launching a new two-hour session for toddlers and parents (or childminders), giving little ones the chance to make the most of the club’s specialist new equipment.

The classes – which will run from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday – also give adults the opportunity to have a workout themselves, led by one of the gymnastics club’s instructors.

Directed by one of the club’s pre-school gymnastics specialists, Melissa Pendrick, the session will cost £5 for the first child, £7.50 for two children or £10 for three children.

Melissa, who is a fully-qualified British Gymnastics instructor and a board member of Honiton Gymnastics Club, said: “Learning the fundamentals of movement and basic gymnastics from an early age is widely accepted as one of the best ways encourage a child’s physical, psychological and social development.

“We’ll be focussing on basic movement, sensory stimulation and fun! What’s more, we’ll be including an adult fitness class into the two-hour slot, so there’s the opportunity for everyone to benefit.”

The sessions will make use of the club’s recently-purchased range of soft-play and EducGym equipment – designed to meet the particular needs of young children – following a £30,000 grant from governing body British Gymnastics.

Parents and childminders will also be able to socialise in the club’s lounge area, where they can relax with a tea or coffee.

Anyone interested in classes should visit the club’s Fun4Baby and Turbo ToddlerTM webpage, which has more details, venue information, and explains how sign up: http://honitongymclub.org/training-costs/fun-4-baby-turbo-toddlers/.

There is currently no requirement to be a member of Honiton Gymnastics Club to attend, but the club does require an online account to be set up.
