Michael Caines and Military Wives to switch on Xmas lights

Princesshay Centre Management are promising a huge party atmosphere for the Princesshay Christmas light switch-on – complete with top entertainment from some household names.

Television and radio presenter, Toby Anstis, will be presenting the event on Thursday, November 22, and there will be performances by the Military Wives Choir and Adam Isaac, who rose to fame in the popular TV show, The Voice.

Exeter’s own celebrity chef, Michael Caines, will turn the lights on, accompanied by two ladies from the Military Wives Choir who will be escorted by the Lord Mayor Rod Newby and of course Santa Claus who will be making a special appearance.

Toby Anstis will be well-known to everyone who grew up watching the Broom Cupboard on Children’s BBC in the early 1990s. He also starred in Challenge Anneka, Big Brother’s Big Mouth as a pundit, Ready, Steady, Cook, the Alan Titchmarsh Show and I’m a Celebrity ... Get me out of here! He was also the first ever ‘loose man’ on ITV’s Loose Women.

The evening’s activities will kick off at 4.30pm and will include performances from the Exeter University Jazz Orchestra, Exeter University Soul Inspirational Choir, local schools and excerpts from City Pantomimes. There will also be performances on top of a vintage bus supplied by Arrowscore. The lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.

Wayne Pearce, Centre Director of Princesshay: said: “We are once again delighted to host the annual light switch on event for Exeter’s city centre and are really excited about the line up of talented local performers we have involved this year. There will be some new lighting features to enjoy also and I am sure it will be a wonderful evening.”
