Man tasered at Exeter shopping centre

A man has been Tasered after an incident in Exeter this morning (10 May).

Police were called reports of a man acting strangely, possibly in possession of a weapon, near King William Street car park in Exeter at around 1.15am.

The suspect was found at the Guildhall Shopping Centre, near the High Street entrance, at around 3.30am.

A Taser was used by police to immobilise the man, who was then taken to hospital.

Police initially coroned off the whole of the Guildhall Shopping Centre while they continued their searches of the area. The search was later scaled down to a small cordoned off area, allowing most of the surrounding shops to open.

The operation was completed by late this morning.
