Man dies after being struck by a train near Tiverton Parkway

A man, believed to be 56, was pronounced dead after police were called to the scene by a Network Rail employee at 8.43pm last night.

The body was found at Crosslands, in Wellington Somerset, and all services on the line were suspended in order to deal with the incident. The railway line was reopened at 10.35pm.

A British Transport Police spokesperson has said:

“Medics from the South Western Ambulance Service also attended and the body of a man was located with injuries consistent with having been hit by a train.

“The man has yet to be formally identified. It is unclear at this stage which train struck the man and at what time.

“His death is being treated as non-suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Coroner.
