Man arrested following armed police response to firearms incident in Exmouth

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Exmouth following a police armed response to reports of a male in possession of a firearm in the town on Saturday evening.

The man was arrested at 10.40pm on Saturday evening on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He is currently in custody in Exeter.

Police responded to the incident at around 7.45pm on Saturday 21 September.

Armed officers including officers from the Force Support Group as well as the Dog Section and the police helicopter were despatched to the incident which was reported to be in the Dinanway Park area of Exmouth, Devon.

There were no reports of any injuries and no arrests were made at that stage.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
