Macmillan Coffee Morning at Devon care home brings community together for a great cause!
On the 26th of September, Greenhill Care Home in Devon proudly took part in the “World’s biggest Coffee Morning”, hosting a delightful event that brought together residents, relatives, and staff for a fantastic day of cake, coffee, and fundraising in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Our dining area was transformed into a cosy, green-themed café with light music playing in the background. Freshly baked homemade treats prepared by our Chef and Activities Coordinator filled the room with delicious aromas. From classic Victoria sponges and lemon drizzle cakes to mouth-watering brownies and biscuits, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Many of our residents got involved in baking, sharing favourite recipes and treasured memories, making the day even more meaningful.
The cakes were so well received that some residents could not resist going back for a second slice!
To boost our fundraising efforts, we also held a raffle and a “guess the weight of the cake” competition. The entire event showcased the strong sense of community within our care home and our commitment to supporting national charities like Macmillan.
With the support of our residents, relatives, and staff, we raised a much-appreciated contribution for Macmillan Cancer Support. The incredible generosity of everyone who attended will help provide vital care and assistance to people affected by cancer.
Our Home Manager, Helen McGuire said: “We thoroughly enjoyed hosting our Macmillan Coffee Morning! Residents and staff were excited for the event, and it truly turned out to be a beautiful experience. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who donated and took part.”
