HUNDREDS of people, from Exeter and across the region gathered in Bedford Square, Exeter, on Monday, March 18, at an Exeter Stands with Christchurch vigil.

There were speeches, song and moments of silence to remember the 50 people killed in the recent terror attack during which two Mosques were entered.  More than 50 people were also injured.

The attack took place during Friday Prayer on March 15.

The attacks began at the Al Noor Mosque in the suburb of Riccarton at 1.40pm and continued at the Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand, at about 1.55pm.

The attacks were linked to an increase in white supremacism and alt-right extremism globally, observed since the mid 2010’s.

The suspect published a manifesto and live-streamed the first attack on social media.
