Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) has engaged a PR and communications expert to help develop and implement a comms strategy to raise awareness of its work.

Freelance PR executive Sue Cade, who has a wealth of experience within the renewable energy and sustainability sector, joins the charity on a part-time basis.

DEBI Chairman, Andy Vickery explained: “Last year was DEBI’s 21st anniversary, and for 2014 we decided to make a step change.

“Sue’s appointment reflects our desire to grow DEBI in its support of environmentally aware businesses as they gain an ever greater foothold across the county.”

The charity encourages businesses to adopt environmentally sound and profitable policies and achieve environmental best practice. The well-respected annual DEBI Environmental Awards event enables businesses to showcase their achievements to a wider audience.

Sue said: “I’m really looking forward to making use of my existing knowledge to help motivate even more Devon businesses from all areas of the county to get involved with DEBI either through membership or entering the awards.

“This year’s awards will be launched in June and I hope that any business that has made inroads into environmental best practice will be inspired to take part.”
