On Sunday 28 April, the Killerton rangers need your help to count and learn about the creatures that live in Ashclyst Forest.

Come along to Caddihoe Scout Camp and help the team with some hands on bug hunting, flower counting and butterfly spotting at the BioBlitz day. Everything you help us find will be fed into a database to help understand more about which animals are living in the woods.

The day kicks off bright and early with a dawn chorus walk where you can enjoy the early morning bird song. Expert led walks and wildlife survey fun will then continue throughout the day, alongside inspiring nature activities fit for the whole family, including mini beast hunts, games and craft activities.

If you’d like to see Ashclyst in a different light, you can join Sarah from Devon Bat Group on the night of Saturday 27 April to find out which bats call the forest home. Join in and have a go at using a ‘bat detector’ to listen to bats as they come to life at night in the wood.

Chantelle Barry, Senior Visitor Experience Officer for the Outdoors at Killerton says ‘This is a great opportunity for everyone to become a wildlife ranger for the day. We are excited to learn about the creatures that live at Ashclyst and need all hands on deck to help us find as many as possible.’

The main BioBlitz event is taking place on Sunday 28 April 2019 between 8am and 5pm at Caddihoe Scout Camp in Ashclyst Forest. The dawn chorus and bat walk are also part of the BioBlitz but are available as separate bookable events.
