2020 was a hard year for those tying the knot, and amid continued lockdowns, 2021 has been no easier thus far. However, Exeter is making strides to try to find that wedding magic where it can, with the recent reopening of the Guildhall among measures the local authorities have taken to instil a little normality into the area. Finding those little ways that can help to make your big day a special one is hard, but there is quality to be found everywhere with a little bit of digging.

Focusing on the small stuff

Even if a wedding isn’t the big and bright grand affair that you may have wanted it to be, you can still put a lot of quality into the small details – starting with wedding bands. Wedding bands have a storied history in Exeter, with Devon Live highlighting the 130 year old business Wray and Co and their history in the area. There’s wedding band etiquette for all couples, with something as simple as a stone band being fine for some couples, and more modern gold-and-gem jewellery featuring for others. Bring a little bit of local history and your own flavour into the wedding band, and you can fine-tune a small detail that goes a long way to introducing magic into your big day.

The countryside

Exeter sits on a huge amount of amazing rural landscape, and this can be another option for your wedding. With urban and semi-rural environments often unavailable due to current conditions, there’s never been a better time for you to get out into the rural areas and enjoy that backdrop. This will, at the same time, help to support small local businesses in the less well connected areas of the Exeter region and wider Devon.

Taking it online

You also have the option, of course, to take your entire big day online. As the BBC note, it’s not at all unusual for couples to tie the knot using entirely digital services, and there’s no shame in it either. This might be the best way to get as many people as you want into your wedding day, and with new tech, it’s often good quality, too.

You can make Exeter a part of the day, too, simply by representing yourself. Exeter’s long history and big pull comes from its people and their warmth and vibrant ways. That includes you, and reflecting that on the big day will mean it’s benefited from Exeter wedding magic.
