A very special Christmas party will take place at the Guildhall, Exeter, on Monday December 11 from 11am until 12noon.

It will be hosted by the Older Persons’ team from Exeter City Council’s Housing Services Department for people across the City who attend the daytime sing and smile sessions organised by the Goldies Charity.

The session will be taken by Exeter session leader Mark Hansford.

The fun sing-along sessions started in the City earlier this year after Sarah Hemming Housing Community Partnerships Officer at Exeter City Council contacted Bath based Goldies founder Grenville Jones.

Sarah said:  “I worked myself in Bath many years ago and knew of the wonderful work that the Goldies Charity was doing. From small beginnings there, it has now developed its work across England and Wales.

"The special thing about ‘Goldies’ is that the formula is so simple. Singing the memory evoking songs of the past does bring great joy to people. Goldies is certainly NOT a choir but it’s easy to see how it has become known as the Sing and Smile charity.”

There is an open invitation to attend the Christmas party for all older people living in Exeter. They are asked please to contact Sarah on 01392 265766 or email sarah.hemming@exeter.gov.uk
