Exeter is a vibrant and historical city that dates back to the Roman era. Families, couples, and friends can visit Exeter as it's a great place for day trips and has an amazing nightlife, ranging from evenings out to some great bars to hitting the fancy casinos. Visiting Exeter for a day trip or weekend will leave you wanting to come back to see more. Here are some great places to visit.

The Night Life

Pubs and Bars

There is a whole range of pubs and bars to check out scattered across the whole of Exeter city. If you’re looking for a quiet beverage of a fun night with your friends, Exeter has you fully covered. The pubs in Exeter have a lot of history behind them. For instance, Sir Francis Drake was said to visit the Ship Inn on Martin's Lane, and the White Hart on South Street on a frequent basis. On the other hand, it's through that J.K. Rowling was inspired by The Old Firehouse when designing the Leaky Cauldron in her Harry Potter books/movies. So, if you’re a big Harry Potter fan, it's a great place to check out where she got her inspiration from.

Casinos

If you’re looking for a more luxurious evening out, there are a few casinos to check out in Exeter. Some of the best casinos available in Exeter are Grosvenor, and Genting casinos. At these casinos, you’ll get the best experience from table service to excellent customer service. We recommend checking our CasinoCompare to get the best games strategies and online casinos for all.

On most weekdays you’ll be able to attend the Cathedral Choir sing Evensong at 5.30 pm. The service lasts around 45 minutes and is open to anyone who wishes to attend. The average viewing time to see the cathedral and surrounding areas can take between 1-2 hours.

Exeter quay also known as Exeter quayside was once the first port where trading occurred during prehistoric times. Exeter Quay is located right next to the River Exe and is a great attraction hosting a whole range of shops, pubs, and restaurants. It’s free to visit and is open almost every day of the year. The riverside is diverse as it accommodates a whole range of demographics. It’s a great place to sit and take in the lake, have ice cream, or have a few pints with the mates at the amazing bars.
