FLYING HIGH FOR CHARITY – SOUTHGATE TEAM LIMBERING UP FOR SKYDIVE IN AID OF HOSPISCARE

A team of brave employees from the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel will be taking to the skies for charity next month.  Five employees will skydive at Dunkeswell airport on 13th July to raise funds for Hospiscare, the hotel’s nominated charity of the year.

The hotel’s team have more sporty challenges in the pipeline to raise funds for the charity with two members of staff in training for the Great West Run in October and the hotel’s Senior Fitness Instructor training for 'Ride London' in August, a 100 mile cycle ride.

Tamsyn Parsons, Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel Sales Manager, says, “We’re so pleased to be supporting Hospiscare this year and we’ve got a huge range of activities in the pipeline. So far we have raised over £2,000 for the skydive but we would be really grateful for any donations to support this excellent charity.”

The fundraising committee at the hotel are aiming to raise at least £7,000 for the charity this year and has already taken part in a number of events including the Twilight Walk in Exmouth and a spa members 'Pink Pig Racing' charity evening which raised £500. Further activities are planned including customer awareness days, tip donation days and cake and book sales.

Christelle Bonnel, Sales and Marketing Officer, who is taking part in the skydive said: “It’s quite a nerve-wracking prospect but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it’s for an amazing cause. We are a close team and hope that we can support each other to complete the challenge on the big day!”

In addition to Hospiscare, the hotel supports a number of other charities including St Loyes Foundation, Contact the Elderly and Force and has held a number of events and fundraising activities for these charities over the past few months.
