Festive fun and Xmas opening hours at Devon’s libraries

Christmas is coming and to help everyone get in the mood Devon County Council’s Libraries have lined up an exciting programme of events for residents to enjoy over the festive period.

Fun activities to entertain residents, both young and old during the Christmas holidays include everything from arts and craft workshops to storytelling and festive competitions. Most of them are offered free of charge!

Events include a Christmas craft bonanza at Newton Abbot Library on Saturday 15th December, decoration making at Ivybridge Library on Saturday 22th December and festive face painting at Dawlish Library on Tuesday 18th December.

There are last-minute bargains to be had as well, with a special offer to hire DVDs and CDs for two weeks and pay for just one week’s rental. The deal is available for one week only, from Monday 17th December until Christmas Eve. All DVDs, including the latest blockbusters, and Music CDs are included in the offer.

Devon County Council’s libraries will be closed from 1pm on Christmas Eve until they reopen for the final day of 2012 with their normal hours on Saturday 29th December. Libraries will be closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and reopen with their normal hours on Wednesday 3rd January. The County's fleet of Mobile Libraries will be off the road from 24th December until 1st January inclusive. Normal service will resume on 2nd January.

Devon Libraries ebooks and eaudiobooks service is open 24/7 throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
