Members of the public are being invited to a special event which will highlight and address the risks of a person having a fall.

The event will be held at the Methodist Church in Sidmouth on 22 June 2016, between 10-12am, and people are invited to drop in at any time.

A number of professionals and services will be on hand to talk about the risks of having a fall. They will also provide practical functional advice on how to avoid falls and how to keep mobile and healthy. Refreshments will be provided.

Having a fall can be significant risk, especially for older people. It can have a major impact on a person’s life, such as hospital admission or having to move into a care home.

Deborah Gladman, the Trust physiotherapist who is leading the day, said: “The aim of the event is to promote an understanding of the potential risks which may contribute towards a person having a fall.

“We hope to draw together a number of professionals and services, all of which together can help to address these risks and therefore reduce the possibility of a person having a fall.”

The Trust would like to thank the Lions Club who are paying for the hire of the hall and the Sidmouth Hospital Comforts Fund for providing refreshments.
