Homeowners at Radford House, a new retirement community in Exeter, enjoyed an afternoon of flowers, fizz and friendly conversation last week as they took part in a bespoke spring wreath-making workshop led by Leaf Street Flowers.

Held in the welcoming socialising spaces at Radford House, the workshop offered attendees the opportunity to embrace the new season while learning the art of floral design. Guided by Emma, expert florist from Leaf Street Flowers, homeowners and guests discovered how to select and arrange seasonal blooms and foliage to create their own beautiful spring wreaths.

The session focused on using carefully chosen flowers and greenery that naturally dry over time, allowing each handcrafted wreath to transform into a lasting dried arrangement to be enjoyed for months to come.

Guests were treated to a selection of delicious canapés and a glass of prosecco, creating a sociable and uplifting atmosphere where neighbours could connect, unwind and share in a creative experience together.

Phil Holyoak, Sales Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “Events like this are a wonderful way to bring people together and showcase the lifestyle on offer at Radford House. It was lovely to see homeowners and guests enjoying a relaxed afternoon, getting creative and building connections within the community.”

The Radford House team, led by General Manager Kay Suckley, were on hand throughout the event to welcome attendees and introduce them to the community’s range of facilities, including the homeowners’ lounge, coffee lounge, on-site restaurant, hair salon, therapy room, and activities studio.

Sheila, who moved to Radford House in November, commented: “The wreath making workshop gave me the opportunity to get together with other homeowners for a very inspiring session. I learned a new skill and loved the interactivity with the group and the hands-on approach. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and I’m so proud of my wreath, which now takes pride of place on my front door. There is an amazing community spirit at Radford House, everyone is so friendly and inclusive, I have no doubts that I have moved to the right place for me. I’m looking forward to more interesting workshops in the near future.”

Hilary, another homeowner at Radford house, said: “I was nervous beforehand as I was never good at crafts but Emma was really good and guided me. By the end I was really pleased with the wreath I made and have it hanging on my door.”

The workshop forms part of Adlington Retirement Living’s ongoing programme of social events and activities, designed to create a vibrant and supportive environment where homeowners can enjoy their independence while being part of a friendly and welcoming community.

Radford House offers a selection of 65 age-exclusive one, two and three-bedroom apartments, along with a range of communal facilities. The Adlington team provides homeowners with added peace of mind and can arrange optional tailored personal care packages, now or in the future.
