Devon and Cornwall Police Assistant Chief Constable Glen Mayhew has been awarded the Queen’s Policing Medal (QPM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Glen has enjoyed a long and distinguished policing career and was appointed Assistant Chief Constable for Operations for Devon and Cornwall Police in January 2022. He is the executive lead for specialist uniform operations including public order, roads policing, firearms and operations and contingency planning. He is also the chair of the Local Resilience Forum for Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and the national NPCC portfolio lead for search & rescue and drowning prevention.

In 2020, Glen was appointed the Police Gold commander and chair of the Strategic Co-ordinating Group managing the response to the Covid-19 health pandemic. In 2021 he undertook the role as Police Gold commander for G7 World Leader's Summit in 2021, which is the largest and most complex ever undertaken by Devon and Cornwall Police.

ACC Mayhew said: “I am delighted to receive this honour. I am very proud of the role I have played in the policing service and to be part of the policing family working alongside colleagues who work hard to serve our communities every day. To be part of that family is a real privilege.”

The Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police, Shaun Sawyer QPM, said: I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Glen on this wonderful honour which is a reflection of his distinguished police career. He has led vital operations across our Force area such as our response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the G7 Summit. He is widely respected by colleagues and within his own community, where he is a committed volunteer. I am very proud that one of our own police family has been honoured in this way; it is truly deserved.”
