282 people gathered and beat the World Record for Cider Tasting at The Stable, Exeter this Saturday.

Smashing the previous record of 255 people set in Manchester, hosts The Stable and The Cider Box are exceedingly proud to bring the accolade home to the West Country.

Serving samples of the shortlisted entries for The Stable’s Cider of the Year competition, The Stable, Exeter was in its element with happy crowds filling all three floors of the restaurant, united in making history and tasting some world class cider. Together with The Cider Box, The Stable is leading the way in bringing craft cider to the masses; this event serving as a prime example of the nation’s escalating interest in the craft brew.

Cheerful customers were supplied with ‘Ciderhead’ t-shirts, commemorative glasses and nibbles, whist the samples were served by Stablehands throughout the afternoon and officials tallied the numbers. With £2 of every ticket sold donated to MIND, the mental health charity, the event was a fantastic fundraising success too.

Dan Heath from The Cider Box says, “We’re totally thrilled. The world record is back where it belongs – at home in Cider Country. It was a dream of ours and we’re grateful to everyone who joined in and helped make it a delicious, cidery reality. Plus, we raised money for a very worthy charity and had a laugh doing it. Saturday was a winning day!”.

David Gough, Operations Director The Stable said ‘“The day couldn’t have gone any better with the party moving onto our roof terrace we celebrated with our locals well into the night.”

Live music followed the event and a thorough celebration was enjoyed by all, not least the new record holders.

The Stable have worked with The Cider Box on numerous projects, including the upcoming Cider of the Year Awards, votes for which are being taken now in all The Stable’s seventeen locations across the country. The eight shortlisted entries can be sampled at each of the restaurants in the run up to the ultimate judging, which will take place early next month.
