Alexander House Summer Fayre Raises £322.20 for Exeter Hospiscare
Residents at Alexander House Care Home in Exeter have helped raise £322.20 for Hospiscare through a community Summer Fayre, with the donation presented in person during a special cheque handover.
Alexander House Care Home on Hawkins Road hosted its Summer Fayre in August, welcoming residents, relatives, friends, staff and members of the local community for an afternoon of stalls, food, games and entertainment.
The event was organised by the home's Activities Team, who wanted to create an enjoyable day for residents while raising money for a local organisation making a difference to people and families across Exeter.
This year, the home chose to support Hospiscare on Dryden Road, Exeter, which is now entirely reliant on donations to continue providing its services. With this in mind, the team felt the Summer Fayre was a great opportunity to bring people together for a cause that is particularly important within the local community.
Visitors were able to browse a selection of stalls, enjoy food and refreshments and take part in games, with residents getting involved throughout the afternoon. The generosity of those attending helped the home reach a fantastic fundraising total of £322.20.
Following the event, residents and members of the Alexander House team was visited by Hospiscare to present the donation in person. The money was handed over in the form of a large ceremonial cheque, with residents proudly taking part in the presentation and seeing the result of the community's efforts first-hand.
Christine Collett, Home Manager at Alexander House, said: “We are incredibly proud of everyone who helped make our Summer Fayre such a success. We wanted to support Hospiscare because of the vital work they do for local people and families, and knowing they now rely entirely on donations made this a particularly worthwhile cause for us to support.
“Raising £322.20 is a fantastic achievement, and it was wonderful to involve our residents in the donation handover. They were very proud to see the money raised from an event they had been part of being given directly to such an important local service.”
The Alexander House Activities Team said: “The Summer Fayre was a lovely afternoon and it was brilliant to see so many people come along and get involved. The stalls, food and games created a really welcoming atmosphere, and everyone was delighted when we saw the final fundraising total.”
The event also reflects Alexander House's wider commitment to supporting residents to remain connected with their local community. Regular activities and events provide opportunities for residents to socialise, welcome visitors into the home and continue contributing to causes that matter to them.
Alexander House would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and supported the Summer Fayre, helping the home raise £322.20 for Hospiscare.
