Access to and from Exmouth Community Hospital will be restricted for several days from Monday 11 January due to essential work to replace a main gas pipe.

During this period, patients and visitors are being asked to allow extra time for parking or make alternative travel arrangements.

The work is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday 20 January.

Tina Slade, hospital business manager for the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “This is essential work and we apologise for any delays or disruption it may cause.”

The restrictions include:

  • The main exit drive from the hospital (outside the main entrance) will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians. Barriers will be put up as necessary.
  • The central area of the car park in front of and behind the annexe will be open for patients only.
  • A one-way system will be in operation from the main entrance past Clarepharm into the main body of the car park and exit via Turner Avenue.
  • There will be no parking as you enter the one-way system from the main road, outside of Clarepharm or on double yellow lines up to the medical centre.
  • The car park area outside the main entrance will be kept clear for emergency vehicles only.
