St Petrock’s Week Launches in Exeter to mark Charity’s 30thAnniversary
A brand-new annual celebration, St Petrock’s Week, will launch this summer from 2nd to 8th June 2025, as St Petrock’s, Exeter’s local homelessness charity based in Cathedral Yard, marks its 30th anniversary.
Originating as part of an umbrella organisation, St Petrock’s was started by local people who were concerned about the welfare of rough sleepers in the city centre in the 1990s. Throughout the past three decades, St Petrock’s has been at the forefront of addressing homelessness in the local area, offering not only immediate relief but also essential resources and support that guide individuals towards stability and independence.
St Petrock’s week is timed to coincide with Devon Day and St Petrock’s Day on 4th June. This inaugural event is both a celebration and a moment to reflect on the work still to be done.
To mark this milestone year, St Petrock’s is inviting the community to come together through a series of special events including:
-
Exeter Respect Festival – 7th & 8th June
Visit St Petrock’s at Devon’s largest celebration of diversity to hear stories from the frontline and discover the impact of 30 years of community-driven support.
As part of the week, a troop of St Petrock’s incredible volunteers will be delivering thank-you postcards throughout the city—a small gesture of appreciation for the unwavering support of the Exeter community. These postcards also include a gentle invitation to continue that support with a donation, helping St Petrock’s to carry its work forward into the next 30 years. Each card shares a powerful message: we stand with and for those experiencing homelessness—and we thank you for standing with us.
“This is a landmark year for St Petrock’s,” said Peter Stephenson, CEO at St Petrock’s. “For 30 years, we’ve worked on the frontline of homelessness in Exeter. St Petrock’s Week is our chance to thank the community that makes our work possible, and to invite even more people to be part of this mission.”
St Petrock’s Week is set to become an annual tradition—a time to celebrate community spirit, local heritage, and a shared commitment to compassion and action.
