Rx-info donates to local charity to support #GivingTuesday

Exeter-based pharmaceutical software specialist Rx-info is giving back to the community by donating £3,000 to local charity, Rainbow Living.

The donation has been offered in line with #GivingTuesday - a global day of giving on 1st December, and as a significant contribution towards fundraising efforts for Rainbow Living’s third Rainbow House.

Founded in 2003, Rx-info develops software for NHS Trust’s across the UK.  Company founder and Director Colin Richman pledged his support to Rainbow Living in order to help reach the fundraising total of over £450,000 that is needed to purchase the third Rainbow property that will provide accommodation for a group of young disabled adults.

Through the donation, Rx-info has also secured the help of PR consultancy KOR Communications, to provide PR and social media support for the Rainbow Living team of volunteers. KOR will offer advice, assist with fundraising campaigns and raise awareness of the charity amongst potential supporters.

Rainbow Living supports adults with disabilities, mainly learning disability, by providing suitable accommodation, allowing tenants to live with their peers in supported living.  The charity enables disabled adults to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives, as independently as possible and within the local community, through person-centered supported living.

Colin said: “Rainbow Living is an exemplary charity, and one that I am very proud to support. The model of care and accommodation that they have developed is not only great for the adults and their families, it is a self-sufficient model that could be replicated anywhere in the UK. I’m pleased that I can support them in their journey to buying their third property

He continued: “When I heard about #GivingTuesday, I wanted to give something back to an organisation which really does change lives.  Events like this provide businesses with a great opportunity to support local charities and where possible, we would encourage other businesses to consider donating to a charity like Rainbow Living on the day of #GivingTuesday, or perhaps in lieu of sending Christmas cards this year.”

Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living commented: “We are amazed at the generosity of this donation and very grateful to Colin. The money will go directly towards our third Rainbow House which we are hoping will be in the local Exeter area, enabling another group of young disabled adults to move out of the family home and into supported living in the community.  We are also very grateful to KOR Communications for their support and look forward to working with them to raise our profile.”

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving on 1st December following the sales of Black Friday and the online shopping boom on Cyber Monday.

The day offers people an opportunity to come together to show the world why it’s good to give. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering time or spreading the word at the start of the Christmas shopping season, #GivingTuesday is a call to action for everyone who wants to give something back.
If you would like to support Rainbow Living on this day, please get in touch with the charity to discuss how you can help, either as an individual or a business; see www.rainbowliving.org.uk
