Exeter’s Oxjam Takeover kicked off with a great start. Jam in a Van was the first of three events leading up to the main event at Exeter Castle on October 17.

All of the team was out and about on Saturday Aug 1 to spread the word about this vital fundraising music festival, which is a national event in aid of Oxfam. There was an array of local performers touring Exeter’s streets, and it was all done out of the back of a van, commencing at Princesshay.

The Oxjam team met some wonderful people ranging from the extremely supportive staff at Waitrose, to an 80 year gentleman with a spring in his step.

The Phoenix Arts Centre was also generous by kindly donating their car park to Oxjam for a further performance. The team were delighted to meet an international hen-party too, fulfilling one of the criteria on their ‘to do’ list by singing the ‘Wedding March’ in the Oxjam van.

Meeting the local people of Exeter, and raising awareness for the upcoming Music Festival encompasses Oxjam’s ethos of LOCAL MUSIC, GLOBAL IMPACT – and everyone had a fantastic time.
