Your bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. It is where you both start and end your day, so it’s important to create a setting that makes you happy. Fortunately, there are some simple tips to create a mood-boosting bedroom – here are seven of them.

1: Use Happy Colours

Colours have a real impact on our mood, so make sure you choose shades that lift your spirits. Try to avoid only using dark, cool colours, and instead opt for brighter, warmer shades such as pinks, yellows, and oranges.

Get creative when it comes to using colour in your bedroom. You can use Harmony Paints on paint both your walls and furniture, adding life to even the dullest of old chairs and tables. Don’t forget to think about the colours of your bed covers, cushions, and pillows, too!

2: Let in Natural Light

While artificial light creates an attractive atmosphere, nothing lifts the spirits more than natural light. Use curtains that aren’t too thick, so you wake up each morning to soft sunshine shining into your room.

Creating a sitting space close to the window is also a great addition to any bedroom, as it allows you to soak up the daylight in the comfort of your private space. The bigger the window, the better!

3: Use Comfortable Furniture

Your bedroom is your own little sanctuary, so make it a place you look forward to snuggling up at the end of the day. Purchase soft, comfortable furniture to give the space a warming, cosy vibe.

The importance of a quality mattress and pillows is not to be understated – you spend a third of your life sleeping, so make sure where you’re laying your head each night provides ultimate support and comfort.

4: Use Soft Lighting

Lighting has an effect on your mood, and while natural light is generally considered the best for mood-boosting, you can also purchase lamps that make you feel happy. Softer lighting will have a more calming effect, allowing you to relax without too much brightness in your eyes. There are plenty of excellent lights for bedrooms, so shop around for the ones that best fit your aesthetic.

5: Get Out the Items You Love

Remembering the good times is an easy way to feel happy, and you can do this often by placing items full of memories around your bedroom.

Hang up photographs, pull out the old teddy bears, and place the painting made by your niece up by your bedside table. A room doesn’t have to be minimalistic to be pretty and tidy – allow happy memories to live beside you.

6: Use Scent

Scent is another easy way of lifting the spirits. Use scented candles and air fresheners to create the perfect scent in your bedroom. Some of the best mood-boosting scents include cinnamon, lavender, and lemon, so look out for products that hold those ingredients. You could even give your bed a small spritz of air freshener each day so you can climb into a freshly-scented bed each night.

7: Lots of Plants

Nature is the natural mood booster, and while it might seem romantic to sleep under the stars, you should probably stick to your bed. Instead, bring nature inside by placing lots of plants around your room. Not only will the natural aesthetic lift your mood, but by choosing the right plants, you could even improve the air quality!
