International travel might be off the table for most of us at the moment thanks to the current global coronavirus pandemic, but there’s no reason why we can’t start planning where we want to head to first once the borders reopen! After so long being stuck at home, it’s going to be difficult to choose just one destination – and wherever you go is likely to feel amazing! One place that should definitely be towards the top of your must-visit list, though, is Thailand. Here are just some of the many reasons why:

It’s a breathtakingly beautiful country

From the sun-drenched golden beaches that look like they belong on a postcard to the lush green tangle of its jungles, Thailand boasts epic natural beauty wherever you look. This biodiversity also extends to the native wildlife, and you can spot monkeys, elephants, and all sorts of other species in the country’s many national parks.

The food is incredible

This will come as a surprise to no one, but Thailand’s cuisine is both diverse and delicious. From phenomenal street food and spicy curries to fresh fish and juicy fruit, the range of dishes you can find is amazing. Each region has its own culinary style packed with different flavours, so be sure to try as much of it as possible!

It has some of the best diving sites in the world

The turquoise oceans might be beautiful to admire from the beach, but the real magic is beneath the waves. Thailand boasts a number of world class spots for scuba diving, where you can swim alongside colourful fish, graceful sea turtles, and even majestic whale sharks. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a certified diver, there are plenty of suitable sites to discover.

It’s an affordable destination

Thailand has long been a mecca for backpackers thanks to the plethora of cheap hostels, affordable food, bargain-filled markets and welcoming locals. Even if you don’t want to rough it, it’s more than possible to travel the country on a small budget and still have a fun-filled and memorable holiday here.

There are a wealth of interesting cultural sights to explore

Amazingly there are over 40,000 temples in Thailand, and aspects of the country’s ancient culture can be glimpsed almost everywhere. So, whether you want to view Buddhist statues, wander around stunning gardens, or spend the day at a luxury spa, there’s plenty to choose from. In fact, there’s so much to see and do that you might never want to leave – and with top international schools like Rugby School available for the kids, you might not have to!

The nightlife is legendary

The rumours are true – Thailand’s nightlife scene is every bit as lively and raucous as you’ve heard. So if you’re looking for a place to let your hair down and party the evening away, this is the place to come. From buzzing Bangkok bars to all-night beach parties, the country truly comes to life after dark.
