The lifting in of the beams for the Penn Inn flyover recommences today (Wednesday 15 October).

In advance of the overnight beam lifting operations there will be some lane closures on the roundabout until 3pm to facilitate preparation works and setting up of the large crane.

The remaining two north span braced pairs of beams are scheduled to be lifted into place during overnight operations from 9pm tonight and also tomorrow (16 October).

Overnight a section of the roundabout will be closed, as will the northbound slip road from Penn Inn Roundabout.  All other routes will be available to traffic.

Friday 17 October is a contingency night and may not be required.

The next beams for the middle spans are due to arrive and be installed overnight from 9pm on the 18, 19 and 20 October, with a three day contingency from 21-24 October. During this operation Galliford Try will endeavour to keep one lane around Penn Inn open at all times, but there may be short periods in which no traffic will be permitted though the roundabout.

The final set of beam lifts are due to take place in late November, overnight from 9pm. This date will be confirmed later in October.

During the entire operation, pedestrian access across the roundabout will be maintained when possible. Galliford Try has constructed special walkways to provide alternative routes, but for reasons of safety pedestrians may sometimes be required to wait until it is safe to proceed.
