Five essential things to bring on your hot tub getaway
Are you a planning packer who makes a list weeks in advance and checks it twice? Or are you the sort of traveller who leaves it all to the last minute and is still shoving things in a bag on the way out the door?
Whatever your approach to packing the bags for your holiday, there are likely going to be important things that you forget or miss. And having to track down essentials on the first day of your holiday is always a bit of a mood killer, isn’t it?
If you’ve not treated yourself to UK getaways with a hot tub before then you might not have the best idea of what you’re going to want to make sure you pack.
So, to make life – and packing – that little bit easier, we’ve come up with a handy list of essentials for any hot tub holiday.
- Swimwear
This one probably goes without saying, but we’ll put it here regardless because it’s the single most important thing. If you want to enjoy the hot tub that your accommodation comes with then you’re going to need to have some swimwear with you!
It’s just basic good manners to make sure that you have the right attire before you go to get in the tub. Whether you’re more of a swimsuit or a bikini lover, don’t forget to pack your swimwear or you’ll have to go searching the local shops for a replacement.
And, if you’re planning on enjoying the hot tub on multiple days, why not pack a few different choices to vary up your fit for any pictures?
- Sunblock
When it comes to spending time in the water it’s very easy to forget that you’re still at risk of potential sunburning. While you’re not likely to spend hours in a row lounging in the hot tub – it’s important to take breaks, after all – you should still take care of your skin.
Obviously, a waterproof sunblock is a must have when you’re planning to go in the water, and it’s not too hard to find a good one these days. Maybe even invest in a higher SPF while you’re at it just to make sure that you’re not underestimating the sun.
This one isn’t the end of the world if you leave it behind, though, as most UK holiday destinations are going to have a nearby supermarket or pharmacy that stocks a range of sun creams.
- Towels
If you’re used to travelling to hotels then it’s easy to get into the habit of not packing your own towels. Why waste space packing something that will be provided for you at the other end? But, not all accommodation comes with towels included.
Before you leave for your getaway be sure to check whether the place you’re staying comes with towels included or not. And if they don’t, you know to make room in your bags for some.
After all, nobody wants to get out of the hot tub only to realise that there’s nothing to dry themselves off with!
- Plastic champagne glasses
A group of people toasting with champagne is one of those images we all associate with a hot tub. Nothing says luxury or celebration quite the same way as enjoying a glass of bubbly along with the relaxing jets of hot tub bubbles.
That said, don’t make the mistake of trying to take actual glassware into the tub with you. It’s pretty easy to slip and you really don’t want to ruin the mood with broken glass making the hot tub a no-go zone.
So, save yourself some trouble if you’re planning on having a toast in the tub and pack some plastic glasses to use instead.
- Wireless speaker
When you’re relaxing in your hot tub you can enhance the experience further with some proper ambience. If you’re staying somewhere out in nature you could simply soak in the sounds of the local wildlife and the wind rustling through the trees.
But, if you’d like to put on a chill playlist or catch up on an audiobook while you’re in the tub then invest in a portable, wireless speaker. You’ll get much better audio quality than you would on your phone and it makes it even easier to ignore any potential messages or interruptions.
That said, try not to sit the speaker too close to the water just in case of any potential slips – or, invest in a waterproof speaker to avoid any troubles!
