Body signals men still ignore too often

Many men are absolute champions at ignoring the signals their body gives off. Not out of ignorance, but because it simply feels easier to carry on than to stop and consider what is going on. As a man, you have got a habit of shrugging off little aches and pains; it is just part of being male. Yet it is precisely those small, recurring signals that reveal a lot about how your body is really doing. In this article, we look at the most common body signals men ignore, and why it is worth pausing to take them seriously.

Teenagers should exercise like kids

As little as two minutes of high-intensity exercise four times a day improves health outcomes in adolescents, but the same amount of moderate-intensity exercise does not reap the same rewards, according to a new study from the University of Exeter.

Researchers found that when exercise is broken up into short bursts over the course of a day – replicating the way young children go about being active – only high-intensity exercise is effective in improving blood sugar levels, fat metabolism and blood pressure in adolescents after the consumption of a fatty meal.

The research,...

Caravan owners saved by carbon monoxide detector

Rick and Jeanette Wills narrowly escaped being poisoned by the fumes from the gas fridge in their caravan. Rick Wills explains: “It was a chilly night so my wife and I shut all the windows before going to bed.

"We were awoken by the Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector at 2am. I couldn’t smell anything, so I took the alarm off the wall and put it under a pillow to stop the noise. As an afterthought I opened all the windows, including the skylight. When we woke in the morning we both felt awful.”

Carbon Monoxide is a highly poisonous gas that has no colour, taste or smell and can...

Good news for marine life

Retailers who stock and sell personal care products that contain tiny particles of plastic may have finally realised that washes, scrubs, gels and pastes made from natural products are just as effective and won’t damage our seas, says the UK’s leading marine charity.

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) says many leading high street retailers have promised to stop selling products that contain microplastics. These tiny bits of plastic, which are too small to be trapped in sewage works, are ending up in the sea where they can be ingested by zooplankton and other animals, which in...
