Being lost and stuck in life is an awful place to be. When you feel like nothing goes well, it feels like you’re literally just running around a circle. No matter what you do or say, nothing seems to change for your good. If you’re not paying attention to your mental health, the feelings of fear, guilt, and shame could amplify, making you more stuck than you already are.

So, instead of doing nothing and letting the last piece of motivation disappear, let’s explore the following ways to reinvent yourself. When life gives you lemons, learn to juggle.

How to reinvent yourself?

Focus on the Good

We all experience bad times in our lives, but we don’t always know how to approach the situation. When realising something is going wrong in your life, it’s essential to stop and analyse what changes should be done. People aren’t made to stop growing. To make progress in life means reinventing yourself anytime you feel it. Reinventing is not about seeking reward or achievement; it’s totally different. You can’t always aim for achievements. As soon as you’re not “stretching” yourself anymore, it means that you stop growing. Reinvention, somehow, doesn’t have an end, which is actually a great thing. It allows you to enjoy endless opportunities to explore new parts of yourself. So, whenever you want to change something about yourself, you need to seek reinvention.

Find the Habits Associated with What You Want to Change

Too often, people focus on what they want to change, not on the small habits that lead them to change. For example: let’s say you are overweight and focus on doing lots of ab exercises, but you don’t consider your diet. To indeed lose weight, you must find the habits that create the attribute and then adjust it. No matter what happens, you must stick with the habits that help you achieve change and reinvent yourself. Practice each day – change doesn’t come in a couple of days. It is a lifestyle that demands daily dedication until new habits take the place of the old ones and no longer need effort.

Don’t Feel Afraid to Look at Yourself

When you refuse to stop and look at yourself in the mirror, it means that you avoid self-reflection. Stop comparing yourself unfairly. Even though it is a natural habit to compare ourselves, in some cases, it ruins your motivation and self-confidence, so it’s not helping you. Comparing with others means you’re struggling with insecurities and hidden traumas, which can give you a different picture of your life. Studies have shown that people tend to overestimate their attractiveness compared to others. Attractive people are unaware of their charm and usually underestimate it. What we think about ourselves might be affected by the people around us, as we tend always to compare our appearance to them.

Change Your Diet

In 2019, 27% of men and 29% of women were obese - The UK’s incidence of obesity has increased significantly since then. Since 20%-30% of people are obese and with most grocery stores loaded with processed foods, it’s safe to say that all of us can benefit from making healthier choices in our diets. And believe it or not, even if you’re not obese, you still need to consider healthier options in your diet if you seek positive results. Not only it will help you lose a few pounds, but it will also increase your mood and resilience levels. It’ll be easier for you to reinvent yourself and become a healthier, happier, and better version of yourself.

Looking to Reinvent Yourself? Why Don’t You Change Your Name?

The art of reinventing yourself could also include changing your name. But how much would it affect your life, you wonder? It depends on for what purpose you’re changing your name. It can be a complete caprice, or it could make you change the way you think of yourself. It is is something you should have in mind when changing your name. If it’s a chance to reinvent yourself and cut the parts you don’t like, changing your name may be an excellent way to consider yourself a “new you”.

So, instead of John, you could be living the life of this “other” person. If you think it will work for you and enjoy being this whole new person, changing your name is the right thing to do. If you’re able to think and imagine yourself differently, it might completely change who you are. It may be surprising for those who have known you for a long while to see this new you, or they might ignore it totally. There are lots of “ifs” in this equation. If you’re doing it for yourself, to reinvent, just go ahead. There will be more power to you. After all, what’s the worst thing that could happen?

Feedback is Essential for Personal Growth

If everyone agrees with you or constantly tells you “yes”, it may be a problem. You need to be surrounded by people who will challenge you and question you. You don’t need people that constantly agree with you on everything you say but disagree and spread rumours behind your back. Even though a person might tell you a harsh truth, take it as it is. It’s essential for personal growth, and it’ll help you reinvent.

You will never become the person you want to be if you continually stay the same you currently are. Changes are needed for the sake of your personal development. Growth will happen only if you step out of your comfort zone. And unless you’re willing to take that risk, you will forever stay exactly the way you are right now. Reinventing yourself is a process, is an art. It’s not something you quickly fix or an overnight solution. It’s a thoughtful practice until you define who you are.

Take these tips as an example whenever you’re ready to reinvent yourself. They might provide good guidance.
