This summer, Brixham’s Fish Market will come alive with flavour and festivity as the South West Sardine Festival arrives on Sunday 03 August 2025, bringing a vibrant new celebration to the heart of one of Britain’s most historic fishing towns.

Free to attend and running from 12:00 to 21:30, the festival invites locals and visitors alike to experience a day inspired by coastal traditions, from the South West to the Mediterranean. At its heart is the British sardine - abundant, sustainable, and caught right here in the South West.

Jean-Phillippe Bidart, head chef at the Millbrook Inn in South Pool, will this Saturday be demonstrating how to cook an assiette of rose veal at the Dartmouth Food Festival. This year's Christmas Market in Exeter will run from Thursday 21 November until Thursday 19 December, on Cathedral Green. The Christmas lights ceremony will also take place on 21 November from 4pm-8pm, with Rob Baxter, Exeter Chiefs' Head Coach; Paul Tisdale, Manager of Exeter City Football Club and members of the Lympstone Military Wives Choir taking centre stage to jointly switch on the city’s Christmas lights during the event at 6.30pm.
