‘Gather’ Summit to Take Place for the South West’s Food and Drink Community at the University of Exeter

A new summit for the South West’s dynamic food and drink community, ‘Gather’, will take place on Wednesday 11th June at The Forum, University of Exeter (9:15am to 4:30pm).

Exeter's first pop-up wine bar opens

Thanks to Exeter City Council's "pop up" scheme the city now has it's first pop-up wine bar at 87 South Street.

Project Vino ( www.projectvino.uk ) aims to bring as wide a selection of wines from across the globe to enjoy over the next few months.

Previous 87 South Street pop up Sancho's Room is now in permanent premises in nearby Fore Street, showing how the concept of trial running businesses for even a short while can help make to leap to a more permanent fixture on the Exeter street scene.

Jessica makes Le Cordon Bleu semi finals

Out of nearly 100 applications, Jessica Abigail from Exeter has been selected to attend the semi finals to fight for her place at Le Cordon Bleu London as scholarship winner. The Fresha kitchens are being run with military precision with the arrival of new catering manager Neil Lyons.

Poltimore Transforming Lives project

A project for people in recovery to help restore an historical and cultural house near Exeter has just been given a funding boost from Public Health England, signalling a major step forward in its aim to transform both the house and the lives of vulnerable people in and around the city.

Regen SW, a centre for sustainable energy expertise based in Exeter, hosted a community energy feast last weekend to celebrate the volunteers and groups working tirelessly to establish community energy projects in the region. These projects are being set up to benefit local communities and generate income to make them more vibrant and sustainable places to live.

Why not forage for wild food this spring?

If you look closely the small signs and signals of spring are all around. Like a faintly warmer breeze or the scent of the air in the morning. Quills of emerald wild garlic, crisp and perfumed, blanketing the floors of our woodland. Our Devon long banks begin to bite with nettles and dying ferns uncurl young growth all around us.
