Specsavers in Exeter  is encouraging young designers to get creative with an Easter-themed colouring competition.

Specsavers Exeter, located at 247 High Street, has called on primary school children to get crafty and create a bespoke Easter egg, with the winner receiving an art kit and a free Easter Egg.

Jonathan Baumber, store director of Specsavers Exeter, says: ‘We are really looking forward to seeing the children’s creations and we hope to uncover the next generation of budding artists!

‘It’s also a great opportunity for children to visit us in store and learn about the importance of eye health and the benefits of eye examinations from an early age.’

Staff have set up a designated area for children who visit the store to colour in their own design and have it displayed on a special Easter-themed wall. The closing date for the competition is next Friday (18 April) and the winner will be announced on Saturday 19 April.

Store Manager, Nic Cavanagh (pictured centre) said: Nic Cavanagh: “It’s been a really good response so far and we’ve even got a desk at the front as a new children’s area and one up on the clinical floor so while children are waiting for their family’s to be tested they can fill them in while they’re here.

“With children it’s hard if they don’t want to wear glasses so it’s also encouraging those who are at that stage by showing them that it actually quite fun and enjoyable.”
The store has also begun its recent Specsavers ‘two free pairs’ promotion, which will see children qualify for one pair of specs free from the NHS and a second pair from Specsavers free of charge.

The two free pairs offer is available now and is valid for children up to the age of 16. Details and information on NHS sight tests are available in store or online at www.specsavers.co.uk.

Nic continued: “One of those can be made into sunglasses because it’s important that we actually protect children’s eyes as well. A lot of people put sun cream in their children but don’t think to put sunglasses on their children.

“Protecting their eyes is just as important as their skin”

To enter the competition simply visit the store and ask for a colouring sheet. Entries will be displayed in store for everyone to see.
