Exeter City's matches postponed by EFL due to coronavirus

All professional football in England has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Exeter City's matches against Salford City (March 14), Scunthorpe United (March 17), Plymouth Argyle (March 23) and Bradford City (March 28) have been postponed following the the announcement this morning that all matches in the EFL have been postponed until April 3 at the earliest.

Exeter City FC released the following statement on their website:

EXETER City Football Club said “no to homophobia” at its home game with Crawley Town on Saturday, February 29.

The match was designated as the Club’s annual “Football v Homophobia” fixture and a number of initiatives were organised by the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust, its One Game One Community (OGOC) Group and Exeter City Community Trust.

It is 11 years ago since the international initiative was founded and the 11th time that a designated Football v Homophobia (FvH) match has been held by Exeter City.

This ruling looks to be killing a lot of lower-level clubs. The main reason for this is because Academy Players are not actually protected until they reach the age of 16. Exeter City fought back from a goal down to earn a point at home to Crawley Town.

The Grecians, in heavy conditions, fell behind to Ashley Nadesan first half strike and toiled for the majority of the match before finding some rhythm in the final half hour an then equalising with nine minutes to go through Brennan Dickenson.

EXETER City will take another stand against homophobia at its match against Crawley Town tomorrow, Saturday, February 29 at St James Park.
