Free Cider and Summer Tunes Come to Devon with a Music Series from Thatchers Cider

Free pints, live music and summer vibes

Thatchers is set to delight music and cider fans heading into venues and pubs across the summer with a national 40+ gig series that will visit Devon throughout August.

A mix of Juicy Sounds DJ nights and Summer Sessions acoustic evenings will be held to celebrate what promises to be a summer filled, not just with sport, but with music too.

Events are currently planned for:

  • The Blue Ball in Exeter on Friday 7th August.

BBC Three hit ' Hotel of Mum and Dad' is back and it's creators Mentorn Media are urging couples in Devon to consider appearing.

The show gives couples who are living in the family home a chance to live on their own for a week to see if domesticated bliss is all it's made out to be!

The Kenn Art Show 21 - 23 March

The Kenn Art Show was founded in 2006 and, since then, it has grown into a successful and prestigious bi-annual event. Profits from the show will be going to St. Andrew’s Church in Kenn, and to the Kenn Centre, where the show is taking place this year.

City mill brings history alive

Devon Wildlife Trust is opening its doors on Friday 14 March for a morning of milling and the chance to see local history come alive.

The event will take place at the charity’s headquarters, the historic Cricklepit Mill situated close to the quayside.

Cricklepit Mill is the last working mill in Exeter and once a month, Devon Wildlife Trust volunteers start the water wheel turning and grind wheat for flour. The events give visitors the chance to learn about the traditional process of flour milling and see an important part of Exeter’s history in action.

Exeter School choral group to perform at TEDx Exeter

Exeter School's Vocal Ensemble is looking forward to performing at TEDx Exeter for the first time.

The choral group is made up of 18 of the school's finest singers aged 15-18.

Music Teacher Mrs Mitchell said they were very excited about the opportunity. "We will be singing a range of music from the Renaissance, through to the contemporary classical music of Eric Whitacre," she said.

150 Years of Exeter Archive Photos

The Isca Historical Photographic Collection celebrates its 40th Anniversary this month.

Established by Peter Thomas, Exeter’s longest established local author, photographer & lecturer, the collection protects the negative archive of the Henry Wykes Studio of Exeter. The studio had amassed an archive of 42,000 images that over the last 40 years has been greatly expanded and now contains some of Exeter’s rarest photographic images.

The most extensive presentations ever undertaken by the author are to be featured in four linked programmes.

This year is the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth, and there won't be a more spectacular tribute than Four of Swords Theatre's latest production.

The Exeter-based company will perform a striking new adaptation of Macbeth in Beer Quarry Caves, the first time a theatrical production has been staged at the 2,000 year old site between Sidmouth and Lyme Regis. The quarry is famous for its "Beer Stone" which was used in the building of Exeter Cathedral, St Paul's and Windsor Castle among others.

New family adventure club coming soon

A Touch of the Wild are going to be running a new family adventure club for just £15 ( for up to five people) from April.

ATOTW, located at Haldon Forest Hill, provides fun and challenging environmental education activities for all ages.

In April they will be running their new family adventure club, which will see its visitors playing games, exploring the woods, tracking wild animals, building dens, lighting campfires and lots more.

ABBA fans in Exeter have chance to see UK's number one tribute act

THE UK'S official number one ABBA tribute band are heading to Tiverton Golf Club, Devon, in April.

ABBA Revival won the accolade at the recent National Tribute Awards, hosted by The Agents' Association.

Their show at the golf club on Friday 4 April sold out within two weeks in January.

The quick sell-out prompted the club to book a second date with the same band on Thursday 3 April (7pm), which is open to everyone.
