Free Cider and Summer Tunes Come to Devon with a Music Series from Thatchers Cider

Free pints, live music and summer vibes

Thatchers is set to delight music and cider fans heading into venues and pubs across the summer with a national 40+ gig series that will visit Devon throughout August.

A mix of Juicy Sounds DJ nights and Summer Sessions acoustic evenings will be held to celebrate what promises to be a summer filled, not just with sport, but with music too.

Events are currently planned for:

The Blue Ball in Exeter on Friday 7th August.

Scrumpstock Festival celebrates Devon cider

A Festival will take place in May at Exmouth Rugby Club to celebrate cider made by those people dedicated to keeping Devon's traditional apple varieties and pressing methods alive.

The type of musical acts you would expect and hope for at a festival like this will be playing, such as London Irish “psycho-cèilidh” band Neck, 50s psychedelic punk from GoGo Cult, blues- grass from Big Joe Bone and folk rock from Ash Mandrake and the Redhillbillies.

RNLI Exmouth will be providing village fete style games during the daytime to promote their volunteer and fundraising initiatives...

Stan continues to hit the right note

This year marks a significant milestone for FORCE Cancer Charity and its association with one of the most popular musical icons in the Exeter area.

The Stan Hacking Concert Band is preparing for its 15th performance in aid of the charity and has already raised more than £12,000.

New book tells the story of Exeter in the Great War

Devon author Derek Tait has published a new book which tells the story of the city of Exeter and its people during the First World War.

Exeter played a vital role during the First World War, supplying men for the army and raising funds to help troops overseas.

The mayoress and her team played a key role by collecting money to aid homeless Belgian refugees in the city while also supporting other worthy causes, both at home and overseas.

Baroque Theatre Company bring House of Ghosts to Exeter

Baroque Theatre Company announces its first touring production for 2015, and it promises to be a real treat for all Inspector Morse fans. House of Ghosts, by Alma Cullen, is an Inspector Morse mystery inspired by the original novels of Colin Dexter. House of Ghosts, the only Inspector Morse play written for the stage, will be directed by Adam Morley, produced by Claire Bibby and sponsored by Clarian Ltd. This stage-within-a-stage whodunit will tour venues across England from 27 March to 16 May 2015 (full details attached).

Teams wanted for The Big Fun Music Quiz

Music fans of all ages are being invited to put their knowledge to the test in The Big Fun Music Quiz in Tiverton.

Teams of up to six people are being sought for the quiz, which takes place at Tiverton Golf Club on Friday 10 April (7pm for 7.30pm) and will raise money for local charity Hospiscare.

Every picture tells a story

A remarkable exhibition spanning the 40 year career of one of the UK’s top photo journalists opens in Exeter this month.

Modestly titled More By Luck Than Judgement, the show consists of around 60 iconic photographs depicting some of the biggest news stories in the South West.

The man behind the lens is Richard Lappas (above), based in Exeter, whose award-winning pictures are still regularly seen in the UK’s national newspapers, particularly the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday and Sunday Times. Riding Lights return to Exeter with Passion Play Inheritance

Following a highly successful tour in 2014, Riding Lights Theatre Company returns with its Passion Play, Inheritance, weaving the strands of the biblical Passion into a dramatic narrative, exploring in particular some of Jesus’ encounters with women in the gospels.

Inheritance evokes the community where Jesus lived, the people who knew him best, the powers that brought him to execution. And in the shadow of the cross it casts light on some of the women who Jesus stands alongside, sharing in their suffering.

Donkey Sanctuary launches annual car show

The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is looking for proud owners to show off their cherished motors at its first ever annual Car Show this July.

There will be competitions for modern and vintage cars with categories including ‘Show and Shine’ and ‘Best in Show’.

Fabulous prizes include top ‘detailing’ kits kindly sponsored by Servo Engineering, Exeter.
