Internationally-renowned, Devon-based ceramicist Bruce Chivers has donated an exquisite Japanese-inspired vase to the collections at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM).

Bruce Chivers’s work is influenced by Japanese art and culture. He is an expert in the ancient Japanese skill of Raku firing. This technique embraces Zen elements of surprise and random pattern-making as the pots are taken from the hot kiln and rapidly cooled.

Devon Wildlife Trust is inviting families to ‘bee creative in the garden’ at a special wild bee family fun day next week. On August 3, the charity will be opening the gates to the Cricklepit Mill wildlife garden for a family event that aims to celebrate bumblebees and solitary bees, heroes of the pollinator world. Exeter Punks Picnic is a three day music event taking place in August. Organised by Old Hat Promotions, this is the first year such an event has been held in Exeter.

The event will span three days, (18th-20th August) and two venues - the Barnfield Theatre and the newly reopened from fire damage Cavern Club.
