THEATRE

And Here I Am 
Friday & Saturday, Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter
Based on Ahmed Tobasi’s personal coming of age story, And Here I Am is an epic voyage of identity and self-discovery. Combining fact and fantasy, tragedy and comedy, spanning both the first Palestinian intifada and the second, we follow the protagonist through his transformation from armed resistance fighter to artist, his journey as a refugee in the West Bank to Norway and then back again. www.bikeshedtheatre.co.uk

Jack the Ripper
Friday, 8pm, Exeter Phoenix
The South Devon Players present a dark drama based on the true story of the mysterious, unidentified serial killer who terrorised Victorian London. Open auditions for Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs

These auditions are open to both Members and Non-Members of The Exmouth Players, and also to children too.  No prior acting experience is required. Real Ale & Cider Festival

An evening of live music with a range of real ales and ciders to sample. Music will be provided by 'Not The Cowboys', described as the second best boyband in the South West (behind The Wurzels) and a selection of local real ales and ciders will be on offer. WESC Foundation Summer Fete

Mitsubishi Motors Exeter 7s

Patronal Flower Festival
Friday & Saturday, St Margaret's Church, Topsham
This year’s theme is ‘Health and Fitness’. Groups and individuals have already come up with some very imaginative titles.  The displays never fail to be spectacular! Open 10am-6pm Friday and 10am-5pm Saturday. Funds will be shared between St. Margaret’s Church and Topsham Swimming Pool. There will be activities for children as well as refreshments and lunches.

Hannah Murgatroyd: Landscape as a Peopled World
Exeter Phoenix
Hannah Murgatroyd’s works can be seen as island spaces of the imagination; painted and drawn worlds inhabited by protagonists who spring from a history of the body, as told through high art, popular culture and personal narrative. Her images often explore a moment of desire; one that is owned equally by men and women. The exhibition runs until 2 September. Open 10am-5.30pm daily. www.exeterphoenix.org.uk

Sea Life: Glimpses of the Wonderful
RAMM, Queen Street Exeter
Catch a glimpse of the magic and mystery of the world under the sea. Dive in, and delight in the wonders of aquatic life. Through a playful mix of historic objects, film, illustrations, live creatures and contemporary craft, the exhibition combines science and art to inspire a greater appreciation of Devon’s glorious coastline for visitors of all ages. The exhibition runs until 17 September, open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-5pm.
