The USA has seen a recent influx of regulated online gambling sites become available to players. This is, due to the court case that allowed for the sites to operate in a legal manner in the US for the first time. As such, it has caused there to be a shift in the number of players who use online gambling. But, is this something that will be sustained in the long run, or is it a short term opportunity that will burn out over time? We take a look to see what is likely to happen.

Big names in the US market

One thing which helps the US to have a sustainable gambling market, is that there are a lot of big names who are operating the different sites. For example, you can look at a BetMGM review on GambleUSA to see just what one of the biggest brick-and-mortar casino operators in the country has to offer to online players.

This instantly provides a good level of trust for US players. Because the providers are all names that are already associated with the gambling world stateside, it means that players are already familiar with their services. It doesn’t require a leap of faith from players as they use a company that they have never heard of. So, Bet365 might be a huge name in the UK, but to US players, it wouldn’t mean too much. This might cause a level of distrust. BetMGM is more of a household name, so it’s more likely to bring players onboard.

Another reason why this is a positive to US players, is that they are linked to casinos that are already in operation. So, players who visit these sites regularly, will be able to instantly recognise what they have to offer. It makes it a much simpler task for people who want to shift to online gambling from real world gambling.

Gambling culture already exists in the US

This is something that a lot of gambling companies fully understand. Gambling in the US was never looked down on by the people. The success of Las Vegas proves that there is a solid gambling economy in the USA. From here, it means that the online market has a lot of potential to grow into. While it obviously won’t be as big as the UK market from the start, at least in terms of proportions, it does have the potential to grow to that level.

Not only that, even if the US market never hits the same proportions that the UK market does, the sheer number of people in the USA, means that the levels of revenue should be significantly high enough for it to be a success. This does mean that the success levels are high enough for online gambling to be here to stay within the USA.

A Nation of sports fans

This is what makes it most likely that the US will take to online gambling in a similar manner to the UK. Part of the reason that online gambling has been such a hit with UK players, is down to sports betting. The UK is a nation of sports fans. While the sports that UK citizens love are obviously different to those that are popular in the US, the basic premise remains the same, people love sports.

So, with that being said, it means that it’s likely that US players will also embrace sports betting. Part of the reason that online betting is so popular, is because it allows players to access different levels of betting when compared to betting in real life. So, one example might be betting on a game that is already underway. This isn’t normally possible at a real life sportsbook. However, an online sportsbook allows users to place a bet on different markets during a game. It means that players will have access to better odds on certain bets, and they can find the best value. This all suggests the US being will take to online gambling in a big way.
